Meditation Deepens The Power Of Positive Affirmations
Some personal development coaches consider positive affirmations to be the very backbone of self development. While continuously repeating affirmations to yourself does get your subconscious mind to imbibe and act upon it, its effect can almost double if you combine it with meditation.

Meditation Clears The Mind For The Positive Affirmations To Seep In…
‘The menu is not the meal’
– Alan Willson Watts
Words whether positive or not, has no value in isolation. Every words that we speak, hear, or think conjures up an associated image, sound, taste, or feeling within us. Every morning when you’re waking up with thousand thoughts in your head, and you repeat ‘I will make this day the best day of my life’- it will charge you up and you’d feel more energetic and positive, but for how long does it last? Hardly an hour!
No, there’s nothing wrong with your choice of affirmative. The problem lies in the state of your mind. Your conscious and subconscious mind is so full of the continuous ‘chatter’ of random thoughts that it does not allow the positive affirmation to invoke a sense of connection deep within your mind and soul.
The positive affirmation in this case becomes the menu- you know what it can offer and perhaps even taste like. However, to actually taste the meal you need to provide an empty platter in the form of a calm and receptive mind.
How to use positive affirmations in meditation?
Meditate for at least 15 minutes before you start chanting positive affirmations. Ensure that you mind is in a completely tranquil, and deeply relaxed state. You can listen to soothing music to meditate in case you have troubles keeping your mind calm or you can try to focus on a particular object in your vicinity.
Once you feel relaxed and more in tune with your feelings, start repeating your choice of positive affirmation. Remember it is best to choose an affirmation that you can deeply relate with. For instance, instead of saying ‘I will lose weight’ choose ‘I will lose 10 pounds in 3 months’. This will direct your mind to focus on what is to be done, by when it is to be done, and whatever it is to be done you have the power to do it.[/fonts]
Meditation Opens The Door To The Power Of Positive Thinking Which In Turn Laser Target Your Positive Affirmations
Positive attitude is nothing but a manifestation of positive thinking, and to think positive you need to first believe in positivity. This is where positive affirmations help tremendously.
Another technique is to record your positive affirmation and then play to yourself while you are meditating. Use a lot of energy, and positivity while recording your affirmation; say it like you really mean and believe in it.
Visualization is an extremely potent tool. If you have images that you can link with your choice of affirmation, keep them right in front of you. If not, then use the power of your imagination and build an associated image.

One common problem that even seasoned meditation practitioners face in case of positive affirmations- is the doubt and negativity that creeps up often. For someone who has been a comfort eater since years and have failed at every diet possible, it would be difficult to believe that they will lose 10 pounds in 3 months. Slowly that bubble of self-doubt and negativity starts expanding, this is where you need to shun all negative thoughts and bounce back.
Although, the chances of random negative thoughts popping up considerably reduces if you meditate prior to chanting affirmations, it doesn’t completely go away. You will have to make a conscious effort to push it away and get back to repeating the affirmation with added belief and energy.
